Sharon is a psychotherapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy. With nearly 18 years experience, she is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are: marital/couples, adoption, women's issues, child and adolescent behavioral problems, grief and loss, depression and anxiety, and EAP.

Sharon is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Dr. Akmal T. Muwwakkil is the President and Founder of Healen Arts Acupuncture Wellness Studio (Formally The Energy Institute of the Healing Arts, Inc. a 20-year Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) organization), providing integrative clinical healthcare. The Energy Institute of the Healing Arts Foundation, Inc. an 18-year nonprofit alternative medicine health care educational organization. Dr. Muwwakkil, has a Bs, Ms and Ph.D. in Nutrition from the (Formally American Holistic College of Nutrition) Clayton College of Wholistic Healthy. His healthcare work began with his mother traditional healing techniques at age 9. In the 70’s he became an apprentice in Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture, Tai Chi and Herbology from Dr. Yong Ching and Master Heg Robinson. He studied massage therapy at the Potomac Massage Training Institute and Asian Bodywork at the International School of Shiatsu. Dr. Muwwakkil has also completed apprenticeship training in Tui Na Traditional Chinese Medical Bodywork with Dr. Yao Xian Quian and has studied in China at the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the 90’s. He graduated from The College of Acupuncture and Therapeutics as a Master Acupuncturist. Dr Muwwakkil is a licensed acupuncturist and massage therapist. He received his Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification from University of Massachusetts, Wesley Mass. Dr. Muwwakkil is an ordained and licensed minister in the Art of Spiritual Healing by the Sanctuary of the Beloved.

Dr. Muwwakkil was the nutritional consultant to the Prince George’s County Head Start Program.  He has collaborated with the Children’s Health Medical Center in developing a juvenile Obesity program. He has work as a Life Style Coach with Safe Healing House for Boys and has work with senior centers to impove the quality of life for seniors.  In collaboration with Community Service Foundation, he has developed and implemented “Strengthen Our Children’s Health Healthy Lifestyle Science (SOCH) program” teaching children the science of reducing their prevalence for health disparities. He will be  engaged in teaching SOCH to the students at Howard University Middle School and the Ideal Academy Charter School starting fall of 2014.  Dr. Muwwakkil, has developed several health and wellness programs, which include A Pulse of Life to assist in the reduction and healing of sports injuries, A Touch of Life for Health and Wellness Healthy Lifestyle Change for adults, Life on the Yellow Brick Road Natures Health and Healing of Addictions. He is the author of four publication, which include “Cleansing Within the Seasons Through the Art of Fasting,” “The Prevention and Healing of Female Imbalance,” “Sweet Mysteries of Life A Handbook to Naturally Reduce and Eliminate Diabetes Mellitus,” “Life on the Yellow Brick Road: Natures Health and Healing of Addictions.” His newest book “Healing from Other Peoples Stuff A Guide to Self-Discovery” will be published through Healen Arts Publishing Company during the winter of 2014.   Dr. Muwwakkil has presented lecture and workshop national and international. After inviting Dr. Muwwakkil to present his research on healing diabetes at Columbia University’s annual health conference, they video the workshop and uploaded it to YouTube. He has presented lectured, classes, workshops and seminars on self-empowerment development at several universities and Major Corporation around the world. Dr. Muwwakkil, has appeared on several local and national radio and television programs. He is the Host of “The Health Chat” on HUR Voices, Sirius XM Radio Channel 141.

Andrea Jackson, an independent Financial Consultant, is on a powerful crusade. She is on a crusade to stamp out financial illiteracy in our communities. Through group sessions and personal one-on-one sessions, she explains how to build a strong financial house. She is passionate about people and helping families become debt free and financially independent.
Andrea graduated from Bowie State University with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and a Master’s in Psychology. She spent numerous years in the corporate arena, but decided that true financial independence and wealth could only be found in building a business. She realized that the only way she could truly impact her community was to use the knowledge that she gained as a client and later as an associate, to show people how to make, save and accumulate money. Drawing on her unique sense of humor, years of teaching/training experience and a strong love for the empowerment of people, Andrea touches audiences nationwide. It is her desire to help prepare, promote, and purpose individuals to reach their potential.

On Saturday, September 28, Bowie State University hosted the first ever “Cracking The Glass Ceiling: Women’s Engagement and EmpowHERment Conference”. This conference provided women in attendance with valuable tools and information to support them in achieving their personal and professional goals. Sheila Stewart, Director of News and Community Affairs for Radio One D.C., was the conference’s keynote speaker and Maryland State Delegate Aisha Braveboy stopped by to provide powerful closing remarks. Several panel sessions featured dynamic women sharing their expertise in the areas of leadership, career development, economic empowerment, and health and wellness. Sharon Richardson

Mrs. Sharon G. Richardson is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park (1992), and her Master of Social Work degree from Howard University (1996). Mrs. Richardson is the Founder and Executive Director of the Culture Development Institute, LLC, a facility which provides the community access to training, education and cultural enrichment resources, as well as physical and mental health and wellness programs. The Health and Wellness Source and CDI Fitness & Training Center were birthed under this umbrella.

Mrs. Richardson has extensive experience-in excess of 18 years-providing clinical services within an array of environments and jurisdictions, within the Washington Metropolitan area, including, but not limited to, child custody matters, and foster/adoptive home licensing. Her strengths lie in the areas of assessment, evaluation and clinical writing. Since 2001, Mrs. Richardson has primarily functioned as an independent contractor and consultant, which has afforded her the opportunity and flexibility to service the diversified needs of her clients. This has included the launching of a successful private psychotherapy practice, in Lanham (Prince George’s County), Maryland. Additionally, Mrs. Richardson has served on several Boards of non-profit organizations, within the Washington metropolitan area.
